Catholic men between the ages of eighteen and forty-five are invited to consider joining the monastic community at St. Mary’s Abbey.
Our balanced life of work and prayer, our excellent liturgy and praying of the Liturgy of the Hours, and our hospitable and congenial monastic community is an ideal environment for a person to grow into Christ. Men discerning a vocation to St. Mary’s Abbey are welcome to arrange a visit with us. Some come for a day, an overnight, a weekend, or to celebrate with us at the Sacred Triduum.
Becoming a monk of St. Mary’s Abbey involves four stages. They are inquirer, postulant, novice, and junior. In all, these stages typically last a minimum of four-and-a-half years.
