Men who are discerning a vocation to the monastic life are welcome to arrange a short visit to St. Mary’s Abbey. During this time, men stay on campus, join the monks at prayer and at meals, and meet with the abbot.

A newcomer should visit the abbey several times. Once he begins to feel more comfortable with the Community and the Community with him, the candidate may wish to apply to St. Mary's Abbey. The vocation committee will review the application and vote on whether or not to accept a candidate for postulancy.
